In basic LL all weapons do D6 but I can pretty confidently say most people will play with the variable damage options. So most one handed swords do D8, maces and axes do D6, daggers and other small or light weapons do D4 and 2 handed swords do D10.
So I calculated some damage ratios and plugged them into the hit ratio matrix thus:

That looks like a D6 weapon has a -1 level disadvantage against a D8 weapon.

Calculate your Fighter equivalent level ( Cleric or Thief = x 0.67, Magic User = x 0.5 ),
Add 9 – your armour class,
Subtract 2 if using a D4 weapon, 1 if using a D6 weapon or add 1 if using a D10 weapon,
Divide total by 4 truncating to an integer ( I’m going to count the possible -1 as 0 ).
At this point I’m still just converting Labyrinth Lord as a sanity check. At some point soon I’m going to move in my own direction.
